QUARTERLY MEETING – March 31, 2009 Thirty-four members and guests enjoyed the quarterly luncheon meeting at Ramsey’s on Harrodsburg Road. After lunch, our speaker, Dave Shuffett host of Kentucky Life on KET, gave a very informative presentation on the many interesting people he has interviewed and the interesting places he has visited during the taping of his shows. Dick Damron also advised the group of a program to honor WWII Veterans called Honor Flight and provided an application form for applying to the program to be flown to Washington, D.C. KEENELAND SPRING MEET - April 19, 2009 Several members, spouses and their guests attended the Keeneland Spring Meet on Sunday, April 19, 2009. A smaller number than in previous years participated in this fun event, but a good time was had despite the rainy day. The survey mentioned in the President’s message provides some options for this event in the future, including whether it should be continued. |

SPRING GOLF SCRAMBLE– June 16, 2009 Twenty-eight golfers gathered at Tates Creek Golf Course in Lexington on Tuesday, June 16, to test their golfing skills in the Twelfth Annual Spring Golf Scramble. The group included Estel Hobbs and Dave Sattich of the Louisville Retirees Club. Although there was a threat of rain, the weather behaved and the round was completed with very little moisture, other than high humidity. The winning team of Bob Kersey, Len Golson, Mike Abrams and Dick Perry shot an excellent score of 7 under par. Second place, a stroke behind was Tom Slattery, Bill Morris (Tom’s guest), Bill Palmer and Dale Moore. In third place another shot back was the team of Rowland Pagan, Jeff Raines, Jim Morris (guest) and Bob Musgrave. Roger Craycraft won both the Longest Drive and Closestto the Pin events. After the Scramble was concluded prizes were awarded to the winners. In addition, nearly everyone won one of the donated door prizes. Congratulations to all the winners and all the members who took part in this fun and exciting activity. The board appreciates everyone’s participation and invites the entire membership to consider playing in our next scramble. A scramble lets everyone enjoy getting together without having to be concerned about every shot. The Fall Scramble is scheduled for Sept. 22, at the Tates Creek course. A registration form is included with this newsletter. |
