ASHLAND RETIREES CLUB CALENDAR – 2010

September 14th - Luncheon & Tour of White Hall

We are scheduled to go to Hall’s on the River for lunch followed by a tour of White Hall Historic Site. This should be a very exciting tour. Time for lunch at Hall’s is 11:30AM and the tour of White Hall is scheduled for 2:00 pm. No registration is required for lunch or the tour, but we would appreciate an RSVP to Carol Tipton at pctipton180@roadrunner.com so she can relay our anticipated needs to the restaurant and White Hall. Near Fort Boonesborough, the home of Cassius Marcellus Clay is a historic treasure: emancipationist, newspaper publisher, Minister to Russia, and friend to Abraham Lincoln. Clay’s daughter, Laura Clay, was politically active for women’s suffrage and states’ rights. In 1920, Laura Clay became the first woman to be nominated for U.S. President by a major political party. We hope to have a large group join us for this outing. To drive to Hall’s take I75 South to Exit 95, go East on 627, cross the river, and turn right onto Ford Road, then take the immediate right onto Athens-Boonesboro Rd. and proceed a short distance to Hall’s. To get to White Hall after lunch, return to 627, then cross I75 and follow signs to White Hall.
